Sandvikodden petroleum bulk quayThe Sandvikodden tank facility is located on Hisøy, Arendal. The address is Losveien 60, 4816 Arendal, Norway. Built in the 60s by NATO. Owned and operated by the Norwegian Armed Forces until 2005, when Arendal municipality bought the facility. The tank facility in the mountains, the quay with adjoining areas and equipment, are the responsibility of Port of Arendal. The facility is used for storage of wet bulk such as biodiesel, HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil), environmentally friendly fuel additive for diesel. Ships calling at the facility pick up and mix in biodiesel – and transport the finished product to other ports and on to petrol stations and storage tanks all over Scandinavia. Sandvikodden is part of an important national conversion to more environmentally friendly fuel, lower emissions and better sustainability. The facility has been upgraded and appears today as a modern, safe, upgraded, secure and efficient tank facility.
